What is an Item Upgrader in Pokemon Go?

The item upgrader adds an additional widget to the top of both the Angel and Cash Upgrade Windows. The Manager is priced at 33 billion Angel Investors and offers no benefits to gameplay other than making it easier to see and buy upgrades.

Costs

Upgrades are accompanied by certain costs associated with them. The first is the cost to perform the upgrade. Rarely, the new benefits acquired will cost more than one perk slot; in these situations, the upgrade will only replace the most expensive perks. The upgrader can also make other changes to the item, for example, changing the damage type of its weapon, or adding or removing an operative or unwieldy feature. The cost of these changes is based on the new ilvl of the item, and it could require a specific material, such as the adamantine alloy.

Success Rate

The Upgrade Pity can be bought from the NPC for the smithing process in Lost Ark. It increases the odds of a successful upgrade by an amount. It's similar to the "luck bonus" that some items offer however it is more solid. This can be added to any weapons or armor and is used three times.

You can also add other materials to the upgrade to increase the chance of success. The materials are displayed in a window above the + button. There are a few limitations. The maximum amount of material you can add is shown directly above the + button.

A Blacksmith Blessing or an upgraded version of it can be used to increase the chances of an upgrade items succeeding. This item is useful if your weapon or piece is nearing or has reached the top level of its tier. This item will allow you upgrade item the equipment to the next tier without risking its breaking.

If an upgrade is unsuccessful it will be returned to its original state. This is usually a downgrade, but can also be an upgrade. Save an upgrade until you reach the maximum level of an item.
